The Applied Technical Solutions (ATS) team in Kalamazoo is responsible for providing engineering support to both internal and external Flowserve customers and to support lower level M&T product development initiatives. To support these functions ATS is looking for an Engineer to interface with the Kalamazoo test lab and manage the tests requests that originate from the ATS group. Further duties of this position would be to provide miscellaneous technical support to the ATS engineers and to complete assigned projects.
Testing Support duties include
Work closely and be a liaison with Kalamazoo M&T and manage the ATS testing programs in the Kalamazoo test labs
Develop tester designs to support the needs of ATS test program
Create test plans to meet the needs of the required testing
Manage the Procurement of components needed to support ATS testing programs
Perform and assist the activities around tester set-up, running, data collection, tear-down, and observations and performance analysis of all assigned projects and tasks.
Learn how to monitor and maintain LabView and any data acquisition systems.
Complete test documentation on assigned projects and tasks.
Make recommendations for capital and non-capital lab improvements to improve our test capabilities and reduce cycle time.
ATS Support duties Include
Tear down and analyze failed mechanical seals.
Documenting and taking pictures to provide evidence of seal damage to perform a Seal Failure Analysis (SAR).
Travel to the field to be able to troubleshoot systems and help AE & SE’s in the field to determine seal and system issues that may cause premature seal failures.
Perform requested seal face measurements utilizing FRT, Brooker and other machines.
Manage Long term trouble jobs using best practices tools such as FMEA and Root cause analysis.
Provide technical assistance in the area of prototype design, product improvements and extensions.
Set up and maintain a clean and organized office and lab area which includes lab equipment, storage, inventory, tools, and testers.
Create work flows to efficiently process task requests
B.S. degree required, Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Technology preferred
Ability to use engineering analysis tools
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Excellent computer skills including MS Word, and Excel
Ability to work well in a team oriented environment
Strong project management skills desirable
The candidate must be able to lift 50 lbs.
